How the course is structured

You complete three units and 10 Professional Practice credentials.

To gain a Professional Practice credential, you'll have to demonstrate the capabilities you've acquired in the workplace.

Professional Practice credentials are designed to be completed between work and other commitments. You can work on them at any time throughout the year, rather than during a traditional semester or trimester.

You'll obtain each of the following Professional Practice credentials by writing a short reflective essay, submitting evidence and providing additional video testimony:

  • Digital literacy
  • Critical thinking
  • Problem solving
  • Self-management
  • Teamwork
  • Global citizenship
  • Professional ethics
  • Information Technology Professional Expertise 1 (depth)
  • Information Technology Professional Expertise 2 (breadth)

2 Core

Each unit below is delivered online and takes approximately 11 weeks to complete in addition to assessment tasks.

  • Introduction to IT Professional Practice
  • Research and Development in Information Technology

Please note: As part of any master’s degree at Deakin University, you need to complete the compulsory, zero-credit-point unit Academic Integrity. This unit requires you to pass an online multiple-choice test.

Capstone Unit

As part of the Master of Information Technology Leadership degree, you will need to complete the following capstone unit:
